Dear resident Last year, across our police force area, 56 people lost their lives in collisions and 468 people suffered serious injuries. Common causation factors in road traffic collisions - known as the 'fatal four' - include:
• Speeding or inappropriate speed • Distractions, such as mobile phone • Driving under the influence of drink or drugs • Not wearing a seatbelt.
This morning officers from the South Telford Safer Neighbourhood Teams along with the North and South Community Safety Engagement Officers and Senior Police Community Support Officer Katy Balaam took part in an Operation called Operation Coral. Op Coral is a car seat campaign dedicated to raising awareness of child car seat safety.
Officers attended car parks and completed vehicles stops over Telford. 48% of car seats checked had adjustments needed. Common errors found include:
❌️ Twisted or loose harness ❌️ Belt route incorrect ❌️ Car seat not sitting flush with vehicle seat
