The following information contains the latest Sussex Police appeals, news and burglary & vehicle crime details for Adur and Worthing for the period of 20 March to the 18 April 2024.
Appeals – you can find out more on each appeal by selecting the link under each heading Appeal to reunite owners with suspected stolen silverware Officers are trying to reunite silverware with their owners in Sussex. A number of items were found in a pond in Bordon, Hampshire on 31 January and handed in to Midhurst Police Station. Witness appeal following unprovoked assault in Worthing Do you recognise this man? Police are appealing for witnesses following an unprovoked assault in Worthing. The incident, which took place in Chatsworth Road around 3am on 23 December, left a 29-year-old victim with serious injuries.
Crime Reports Burglary There have been nine reports of residential burglaries across the Adur and Worthing district, spanning the following areas ADUR – Southwick, Lancing and Shoreham WORTHING - Broadwater, Castle, Tarring, Northbrook and Goring Some properties were empty due to residents being away over the Easter holidays and entry has been made via rear windows and doors. Property has been stolen and damage caused to the properties involved. There also continues to be attempted break ins of garages, although these have been unsuccessful and nothing has been stolen.
Burglary Prevention Please make sure your outbuildings and garages are locked and secure. We are continuing to investigate these burglaries and if you see anyone acting suspiciously around a property, please report it to us on 101 or 999 if you are witnessing a burglary in progress. Vehicle Crime There have been 26 reports of vehicle crime including break ins, damage and vehicle thefts across the Adur and Worthing district, spanning the following areas ADUR – Southwick, Shoreham, Sompting WORTHING – Heene, Salvington, Broadwater, Durrington, Tarring, Worthing, Seldon Some vehicles had items on show and were unlocked and we urge owners to ensure that they keep all valuables and personal property out of sight and ensure your vehicle is locked, even when on a driveway.
Tool Thefts from Vans We continue to receive several reports commercial vans being targeted and tools being stolen. Entry to the vehicle is done via the rear or side door and although we are investigating these thefts, we are urging owners to not leave valuables or tools in their vehicles overnight.
Where possible, if your vehicle is alarmed, please ensure it works and if you have CCTV, video doorbell footage of any thefts or witness any suspicious activity around vehicles, please let us know.

Worthing man sold Class A drugs to fund lavish lifestyle A man who dealt Class A drugs to fund his lavish lifestyle has been jailed. Louis Seyfi was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession with intent to supply cocaine following a trial at Lewes Crown Court.
Police continue to tackle anti-social behaviour across West Sussex Community notices and dispersal orders have been authorised in a bid to continue tackling anti-social behaviour across Adur, Worthing and Horsham. Lots of hard work has been carried out by officers and policing teams across the towns to curb disruption.
Forces unite to promote safer riding for motorcyclists Officers across the Southeast united to provide guidance and advice to motorcycle riders as part of a road safety campaign. During the Easter weekend, officers from Sussex, Surrey, Kent, Thames Valley and Hampshire Police worked together in order to promote safer riding to motorcyclists across the southeast region by directing them towards a new ‘Ride Craft Hub’. The hub is a new website that contains content from professional riders that is aimed at helping motorcyclists be better on their bike and to reduce the risk of harm to riders on the road.
Dozens more officers recruited to Sussex Police Dozens more individuals are beginning a new career with Sussex Police. More than 50 arrests made as part of force operation in West Sussex More than 50 arrests have been made as part of a Sussex Police annual operation to ensure drivers are safe on the road during the month of March. Operation Downsway launched on 1 March in West Sussex and will run until the end of the year.
Two men charged following stabbing in Worthing Two men have been charged following a stabbing in Worthing. Police were called to a report of a stabbing near Goring Road, Worthing at around 6pm on Sunday, 24 March. A 30-year-old man from London was found with a stab wound and was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Right Care Right Person initiative launched in Sussex Sussex Police and health and social care organisations have launched a new initiative to better target help and welfare support for people in Sussex. Right Care Right Person is a national police programme being rolled out across the UK, as part of ongoing work between police forces, health providers, and local and national government. The national model is designed to ensure that when there are concerns for a person’s welfare linked to mental health, medical, or social care issues, the right person with the right skills, training and experience will respond.
Woman jailed for unprovoked attack in Worthing A woman has been jailed for leaving her victim with permanent facial injuries in Worthing. Officers were called to Liverpool Road, near the Montague Centre, around 2am on 10 December after a 43-year-old man was assaulted.
