Day of Action – Huncoat

On Wednesday 25th April 2024, your local neighbourhood policing team conducted a Day of Action in the Huncoat area! The objective of the Day of Action was to work with partner agencies targeting criminal or anti-social behaviour in the area. Here are some of the things we did:

Met with trading standards, went to serval shops in the area which resulted in us finding three purpose-built concealments, and seized illicit products from all the shops visited. These included 966 packs of cigarettes, hand-rolling tobacco and vapes with a street value of over £9,500. The illegal trade in these products is really widespread, with some unscrupulous retailers deliberately selling illicit goods, often to children. Cheap illicit tobacco encourages children to smoke, and the sale of illegal products impacts on both legitimate businesses and on the health of our communities.

If you know of businesses selling illegal tobacco or vapes, please let Trading Standards know by contacting the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 0808 2231133

A couple of our PCSO’s met up with Onward Homes and went round to some of their problem areas in regards to ASB which proved to be quite beneficial to us, as it helps us plan where our future patrols should be.

We conducted speed enforcement checks on Lower Gate Road due to recent reports of speeding vehicle, we caught serval people speeding the appropriate action was taken. If you have any speeding concerns you would like to report like submit your concerns on the following link - Speed Concern Submission – Lancashire Road Safety Partnership (lancsroadsafety.co.uk)

We also conducted serval on foot hi-visibility patrols in the area during the afternoon alongside with primary school visits to speak to the students. During the evening the neighbourhood team got together and targeted hotspot areas in the Police carrier.

Overall, this day was a success other Officers and PCSOs for different areas will be conducting Day’s of Action in the coming months.

Regards,

PCSO - Rhys Ward - 7077
