Burbage Police. Urgent Appeal If You Have CCTV/Doorbell Cameras And For General Crime Prevention.

Hello Resident,

We are appealing for residents around Burbage to check their CCTV or doorbells following a crime spree over night from 00:01 – 02:45 on the morning of the 20th of November.

The reports we have so far are as below with the relevant time frames. If you have been a victim of a break, criminal damage or theft, please ensure it is reported immediately as it helps us identify patterns and the true scale of issues. 999 (if the incident is happening in that moment, or 101/online if you have discovered this after the time https://www.leics.police.uk/

Atkins Way, 00:00 – 00:25, a VESPA VXL mobility scooter was reported by LFRS (Fire brigade) as the scooter was found on fire, this has also caused damage to a neighbouring fence. We currently have no reports of a theft of this scooter so it is unclear as to the full circumstances (theft or anti-social behaviour/arson). We believe the scooter was white with chrome so get in touch if you know who’s this is. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk.

Church Street area, 00:10 – 00:35, report of 3 suspects trying car doors and committing criminal damage.

Jubilee Way, 00:35 – 00:55, report of 3 suspects checking doors, going into gardens and committing general anti-social behaviour.

Twycross Road, 01:00 – 01:30, report of 3 suspects trying doors in the area.

Herford Way, 02:15 – 02:45, reports of suspects breaking locks on shed doors and looking through windows.

We have been completing work in these areas but would really appreciate any further images that are of evidential value and any information you may have. These incidents have affected a lot of residents, including elderly and vulnerable. It is disgusting that these suspects feel it appropriate to damage/take peoples property and make residents, especially elderly, feel unsafe in their own home. Crime report 23000717208.

A resident has been in touch to raise general awareness regarding theft of parcels, in particular around the Hinckley Road area. Please consider where your parcels are left and if you have a “safe place”, trusted neighbour etc for them. Don’t forget, you often get given options of what to do with the parcel if you are not in, such as leave at the nearest post office. This seems to be more common if you live on a main/busy road.

Just a reminder that we are at the Christmas Market on Friday with our usual crime prevention items (sold at cost cash only). We have fence spikes, shed alarms, car key wallets and much more. (We are by the Freemans Lane entrance)

Thank you and take care.
