A section 23 misuse of drugs act warrant was executed yesterday morning at an address in Thorne town centre. Colleagues from our Tactical Support Group gained entry to the premises by using a chainsaw to rip through the metal roller shutters - each room contained a substantial cannabis grow, approximately 235 plants across all five rooms. Northern Power attended to make the location safe, this took most of the day as part of the pavement on King Street had to be dug up in order to make the electric connections safe. The cannabis setup was then dismantled, equipment removed and the cannabis plants were disposed. One person was arrested at the location on suspicion of production of cannabis - they are still in Police custody. Thank you to the local community for raising their concerns with regards to drug use and drug supply throughout the community of Thorne. Without your concerns, intelligence and local knowledge we wouldn't be able to gain the information we need to supply the magistrates court for a warrant. This is another small step towards disruption of drug links within the local area and we will continue to clamp down on such behaviour. If you have any information regarding drugs in your area, you can report this to us using our web site or anonymously via Crimestoppers. | ||||
