Dear Watch Member Your local Police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) has asked NHW to remind all vehicle owners on the ward that criminals who are successful in carrying out theft of items from unlocked vehicles often return about a week later to try their luck again. Are you sure your vehicle is locked right now?  PCSO Richard Mascarenhas says: “Please report any suspicious males walking around during the hours of 2300 and 0200 this weekend and keep vehicles locked, with no valuables on show (this includes loose change, disabled badges, etc). Call 101 if you see anyone acting strange, looking in car windows, trying door handles or being dropped off and walking an unusual amount, and tell the call operator that the area has been hit by a wave of TFMVs. There may be a unit nearby that can check it out. Even if a unit isn't available, a report really helps build a picture of what’s going on. If residents don’t report it, we don’t know it’s happened.” If you see a thief enter a vehicle then it's “crime in progress” - 999 |
