Update: Buckhurst Lane Multi-Storey Car Park/Leisure Centre and Environmental Park, Sevenoaks

Dear Resident,

Following my previous update on 8th August 2024 regarding police actions at Buckhurst Lane Multi-Storey Car Park/Leisure Centre and Environmental Park in Sevenoaks, I would like to provide you with further details on the tangible actions we are taking to enhance environmental design.

Assessment of the environmental design

An assessment of the environmental design surrounding the leisure centre and park has been undertaken to identify and modify areas that could facilitate Anti-social-Behaviour (ASB), such as dense shrubbery that may provide cover for offenders.

In collaboration with the council, we have tasked the Probation Team with the following actions at the leisure centre:

  • Clearing the two shrub areas near the path and benches.
  • Clearing the shrubs between the trees.
  • Removing the box planter and replacing it with shingle.
  • Additionally, we are assessing the necessity of benches between the leisure centre and Burlington Mews.

We have also engaged with the Local Authority CCTV to improve coverage of the local area.

Some of this work has already been completed, as you may have observed.

I plan to arrange another informal meeting with local residents to discuss the measures we have implemented and to gather feedback on their effectiveness. We welcome any concerns to ensure that antisocial behaviour in the area is effectively addressed.

Thank you for your attention and support.
