An off-duty officer detained a shop lifter trying to make good their escape yesterday evening in Oakham. It just goes to show that we are never off duty! 

The person also just so happened to be wanted for other theft offences elsewhere in our force area, as well as being the suspect in a theft from vehicle crime.

Vehicle crime is a priority for most of the Rutland beats and this is a great overall result, thank you to PC 299 Shane for his dedication.

All of the investigations are on-going and we cannot make any further comment at this time, the person is currently being dealt with in custody.
