Dear Members
We have recently noticed a rise in vehicle number plate thefts in our area. Stolen number plates are often used in criminal activities on cloned vehicles to commit further crimes such as thefts, burglaries, or speeding offences. It is important to stay vigilant and take precautions to protect your vehicles.
Here are some steps to help prevent number plates theft.
1. Use Number Plates Security Screws: Install security screws specifically designed for number plates. These make it much harder for offenders to remove your plates.
3. Stay Alert: If you notice any suspicious behaviour around parked vehicles, please report it to the police. Please make sure you are checking your vehicle registration plates are in place before setting off.
4. If You Find a Discarded Number Plate Report It: Contact the police on the non-emergency number (101) or online to report its location. If you are a victim of theft of number plates and receive any speeding or parking fine letters from areas which you have not visited yourself, call 101 ( 999 emergency line ) so that the crime can be updated and further enquiries can be made.
By staying aware and working together, we can help prevent and address this issue in our community. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our area safe. PCSO 6007 Angelo Pavlou Letchworth Police Station Nevells Rd, SG6 4TS
