Blythe Crimes Update


Dear Resident,

Here are the Reported Crimes on Blythe from Thursday 24th October 2024 – Friday 1st November 2024.

Burglary.

No Burglaries or attempted burglaries have been reported.

Criminal Damage to Motor Vehicle.

Between the 23/10/24 5.30pm – 24/10/24 7.30am a Mercedes Sprinter van’s rear door was damaged. The vehicle was not entered but the rear door lock had been broken whilst parked on The Premier Inn’s car park, Stratford Road Shirley.   

Theft from motor vehicle.

Between the 23/10/24 6pm - 24/10/24 6am a Renault Trafic van was entered and tools stolen whilst parked in an unnamed road off Lime Kiln Lane Solihull.

Theft of Motor Vehicle.

On the 29/10/24 at 11.31am a 68 plate Range Rover Evoque was stolen without keys whilst parked in the car park at Woods Farm Bills Lane Shirley.

Attempt Theft of pedal cycle.

Between 25/10/24 9am- 28/10/24 9am an attempt was made to steal a Carrera pedal cycle from Waterside, under ground car park in Dickens Heath.

Darker nights are here. Please set your alarm if fitted. Leave lights on or use light timers. Never leave your house in darkness. 

Ongoing patrols are continuing. Thank you to the residents who are helping Police with their investigations. 

Please use anti-tamper screws available from most vehicle spares shops to secure your number plates securely to your vehicle.

  • If you are considering installing or upgrading your CCTV, ensure that any system allows you to achieve the following:
  • Any images should be recorded onto a secure system and be held for a minimum of 31 days.

  • Ensure that all shrubs and hedges do NOT encroach the maximum height of 1m and Tree canopies are lifted to 1.8m. This allows for maximum natural surveillance.

  • Ensure that all fences are the same height as smaller fencing abutting higher fencing acts as a potential climbing aid for offenders.

  • Ensure that all garden furniture is stored away in a garden shed along with any tools to avoid aiding offenders in committing burglary.

  • Ensure that Wheelie Bins are not stored near to fences and are chained together to prevent them from being used as climbing aids or storing objects in that may aid an offender to commit a crime.
