Hello all.
I can hear some of you saying, ‘oh here he goes again, the fun police putting a damper on enjoyment!’
We're really not as we want you all to have fun fun fun!!
However, as with Halloween, noisy fireworks aren't everyone's cup of tea especially those with animals and babies/small children who might be frightened of all the bangs and whistles so if you know that your immediate neighbours are in this position, it wouldn't hurt just to let them know that you've got the world's noisiest Catherine wheel and at least they can prepare their animals or children for a bit of noise. We all know that fireworks can be very dangerous if not handled correctly so please read the instructions and let's not have any injuries caused because not only is a firework injury potentially life changing/threatening, we don't want ambulance crews tied up with an emergency that should have easily been avoided. The same goes for bonfires, make sure that you have a responsible person who isn't intoxicated in charge of the bonfire and the fireworks, again we don't want injuries that could have been avoided or fire damage to garden fences etc and let's leave our Firefighters to their sleep, sorry I meant to say their continuous drill practice (I think I got away with that!)
I'm sure there's a few local public events taking place too which I'm sure they'd like you to support and that's probably a safer option and I'm sure they'll have a burger stand which is always a bonus!!
I was on patrol with my colleagues across the district last night (31st October) and we had a relatively uneventful evening apart from the odd one or two incidents which we are dealing with. During my drive around it was lovely to see the kids dressed up and the adults in fact and some of the costumes were amazing, I even got given a spooky lollipop from a ‘horror house’ on The Rype in Lydd, thank you again!!
We will be on patrol again during the evening of the 5th November (across the Folkestone and Hythe district) to make sure that everyone has an enjoyable time.
So………remember, remember the fifth of November, stay safe, have fun and respect each other!!
Thank you. Steve and colleagues.
