Arrested on suspicion of 9 offences in the early ours of today thanks to proactive burglary patrols A man was arrested in the early hours of today (1 November) on suspicion of stealing a tractor, trailer and multiple other offences. We were on proactive burglary patrols along the County Durham border and received information that a vehicle, believe to be linked to the theft of the tractor from Wensleydale the previous day, was travelling in the area again. The vehicle was traced to the northbound carriageway of the A1 and thanks to invaluable information from a member of the public who reported seeing a livestock trailer being towed in the middle of the night, and thought it unusual, we quickly intercepted a Nissan pickup and trailer on the A1 just over the Durham border and brought it to a stop. The driver and sole occupant of the pick-up, a 43-year-old man from the Catterick area, was arrested on suspicion of nine offences. They include two vehicle thefts, theft by finding, a burglary in the Ryedale area, possessing a knife / blade, driving while disqualified, drug driving, driving without insurance and criminal damage. He remains in police custody for questioning at this time.
