Our advice is that the safest option is always to attend an organised event to enjoy a bonfire and fireworks.
But, if you are planning on using fireworks at home, make sure you know the law:
It's against the law to set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am.
There are some exceptions to this, which are:
• Bonfire night, up until midnight. • New Year's Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, until 1am the following day.
It is also illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to buy or carry fireworks. Throwing or setting off fireworks in the streets is also against the law.
Before starting your display, make sure you've read through this important safety advice from Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service: https://orlo.uk/65B3M
Our policing teams will be out and about in the run up to and throughout Bonfire night, and working with partners to prevent anti-social behaviour.
