Corby Town Centre ASB and crime

Good afternoon,

I am PC1477 Worthington, and I am based in Corby Neighbourhood team and cover the town area in Corby alongside my colleague PC CARTER. Over the past several weeks, as I am sure you are all aware the rate of ASB have significantly increased. From this there has been an operation put in place which is already seeing positive results. This Operation also includes street drinkers.

At least 10 warning letters have been sent to parents, which gets the ABS route started. Several Acceptable Behaviour  contracts are being completed and signed by the children and parents. Multiple Youth violence interventions referrals have been.

Peter Johnson was arrested on the town centre last week by NPT officers.

Several youths are currently in the process of being interviewed for several offences across the town centre, including assaults and criminal damage.

Another positive outcome from the operation is that we have managed to obtain several S34/35 dispersals, which allow officers to ban any person from the specific area (the town in this incident) for 48 hours and it is an offence for a person to return. Officers handed out at least 15 dispersal notices. This appeared to have been successful with only a few breaches, which officers are progressing and being taken seriously.

This operation has allowed officers to be more present on the town centre, with dedicated patrols.  Last week, due to it being Halloween, all resources on the NPT were tasked with town centre patrols .This had a huge impact and from 9/10 PM Town was empty. Hopefully this illustrated to the individuals causing issues that we are taking this seriously and aware of their presence.

We have been working closely with Town centre security, who have been vital in assisting with helping us identify individuals and we will continue to work along town centre security.

Thank you for everyone who is providing us with the vital information and reporting the crimes that are occurring, this helps build a picture of the offenders and the issues on going.

With your help we will continue to work with the community and our partner agencies which will apply pressure on those responsible for issues.

Crimes should be reported on online, 101 or 999.
