NEWS - Dispersal Notice issued for city centre after concerns about discharge of fireworks

A Section 34 Dispersal Notice has been issued within the inner ring road in the city centre from this evening (Monday 4 November).

During the early of Saturday morning (2 November) police received a number of reports of a large group of people in the area of Bath Lane, Leicester, causing anti-social behaviour and throwing fireworks.

Officers attended the area several times and were subject to threatening and aggressive behaviour by some of the group. The fire service also attended due to a firework being set off close to the entrance of one of the student accommodation blocks.

Three people were also arrested and have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

To avoid further gatherings a Section 34 Dispersal Notice has been put in place which is effective for 48 hours from 4pm today (Monday 4 November).

This type of behaviour is not acceptable, and officers will be in the area to take swift action if needed.
