A man has been jailed for 10 weeks after he stole items worth more than £250 from stores in Aldershot. Ryan Gibbs, 39, of Winterthur Way, Basingstoke, stole household, confectionary and meat products from the Co-op on Lower Farnham Road and Morrisons Daily on Queens Road. The thefts took place between 30 October and 3 November and the total amount of items stolen was £265.25. Officers launched an investigation and Gibbs was arrested and later charged with three counts of theft from a shop. He pleaded guilty to all offences and was jailed for 10 weeks at Basingstoke Magistrates Court yesterday (6 November). Police Sergeant Rob Tiller, from the Aldershot Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We know the impact Ryan Gibbs’ actions had on businesses, shop workers and the wider community. “Our message is clear – shoplifting and this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated in Aldershot. “Please continue to report incidents like this to us as we will do all we can to put those responsible before the courts.” | ||||
