Operation carried out in Lupset to target e-Scooters

Dear Resident,

Yesterday, PC Steel from the Off-Road Bike Team worked with PCSOs Sheldon and McHale concentrating on the Lupset area, targeting primarily e-Scooters.

In total, 7 e-Scooter warnings were issued to riders around the Lupset area.

In addition, 5 tickets were issued to motorists for obstructive parking around a local school at school closing time.

A vehicle was stopped due to a smell of cannabis present. Passenger found to be in possession of cannabis and dealt with for this offence.

Following on from an incident of ASB by a group using electric and off-road bikes, all involved initially made off from officers, but 1 of the bikes with rider was detained. The bike was seized and the rider will be prosecuted for various document offences.

If you have any information regarding nuisance bikes / scooters / quads, you can report it to us via our online reporting system Report nuisance bikes / quad bikes / off roaders | West Yorkshire Police

Thinking of buying an e-Scooter as a Christmas present?

You need to be aware that the only place an e-Scooter can be used is on private land. It is against the law to ride an e-Scooter on a public road or pavement.
