Police carrying out enquiries into the 1989 murder of a man in Southampton are issuing their thanks to the public for all their assistance so far, while continuing to appeal for information. A team of detectives have recently reopened the investigation into the murder of Richard Haywood, commonly known as Ricky, who was shot dead in his Shirley Road flat on Monday 16th October 1989. The charity Crimestoppers, which is independent of the police, are offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information given to them anonymously and exclusively, that leads to the arrest and conviction of anybody responsible for Ricky’s murder.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks to those who have come forward with information so far. I believe there are still people with information who have not yet spoken to us. If you do have any information, no matter how small it may seem, I encourage you to also speak out to assist with the investigation. “To those who have not spoken to us but feel they may have information to assist us – I am urging you to come forward now. You do not have to speak to us directly, you can report any information 100% anonymously via Crimestoppers, a charity which is completely independent of police and is offering a £20,000 reward for information.” Anyone with any information, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, can speak to Crimestoppers or contact police directly on 101 quoting Operation Tango/44080416574 or visit our public portal to submit information online. | ||||
