The last few months have seen the Neighbourhood team really pushing to make a difference tackling the ongoing issue of Drugs in our community. This has seen the team execute multiple warrants at known addresses and achieving some fantastic results. Multiple people were arrested, and numerous Class A drugs seized and taken off the streets. On top of Drugs being seized we also seized weapons, knives, and money. These warrants also assisted with a Full Closure Order and a Partial Closure Order being granted at Court. A Closure Order allows the Police to remove anyone from a premises and board it up for 3 months. It then becomes an offence for anyone to be in that property. This is a great power for tackling Drug Supply and Anti-Social behaviour associated with this. A Partial Closure Order allows the resident to remain at the property but makes it an offence for anyone else to be in the property. This allows us to safeguard individuals at risk of being exploited or “cuckooed”. The team also worked with the Neighbourhood Support Team who using their specialist skills targeted two known drug dealers in the community. They witnessed one of the suspects trying to throw drugs from the window to hide evidence! He was arrested and remained in custody until November! In between tackling Drugs, the team have also been back in our Local Schools delivering talks on Road Safety, Online Safety and an introducing our local officers. This community engagement is a great way for children to understand what the Police do and how to stay safe. The team have already been in St Marys, St Kew, and St Tudy with many more lined up. In the run up to Christmas we will also see the team more on the ground in the town centre walking around and checking in with retailers.
