'End of Six' 28/10/11 to 12/11/24

Dear Residents,

Billesley Neighbourhood Team hope you and your families had a fun and safe Halloween/Bonfire night.
Here is a quick update on the past two weeks of what has been occurring in and around the Billesley ward.

Reported crimes (28/10/24 – 12/11/24) –

Theft of Motor Vehicle – 12
Theft of Stall – 4
Burglary – 7

GOOD NEWS

It has been a productive few weeks, starting off with a positive warrant conducted where 3 motorbikes that were tearing around the neighbourhood were seized along with money and a quantity of drugs.
As some of you potentially have read on ‘X’, a red motorbike was recovered from Billelsey Common which had been causing problems in the area.

Recently, we had been receiving complaints at the location of Sainsbury’s Maypole regarding numerous vehicles gathering in the car park causing anti-social behaviour. There has now been an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) camera which is monitoring vehicles, so we can take positive action where necessary.
Many thanks to the residents who have kept us informed.

Crime Prevention
Darker nights are now with us, and here are a few reminders of how to keep you and your home safe.

Lock up, protect your home.
✔️ Keep your doors and windows locked whether you’re in or out.
✔️If you have an alarm make sure you use it
✔️Remove keys from locks and keep out of reach from windows or doors

Criminals are also on the lookout for jewellery, family gold, designer goods, and cash. Take a moment, and think about where you keep yours. Can it be seen through a window or are they hidden away?

Here are some ways you can protect your home and your possessions:

1.    Keep jewellery and other valuables in a safety deposit box – your insurer can provide suitable advice. If you prefer to keep jewellery at home, invest in a safe that is installed to manufacturer’s instructions.
2.    Photograph your jewellery on a plain background with a ruler next to it to give an idea of size to help in its recovery or for insurance purposes.
3.    Keep an inventory - this can be done in a paper version or online at www.immobilise.com – secure asset register. Include identifying marks, images, value and the purchase date. You can also register your possessions for free at www.secureassetregister.com
4.    Keeps your windows and doors locked even when you’re in. Double check if criminals can access your upstairs windows by climbing on to a garage roof or fence wall.
5.    Move designer goods and jewellery away from back doors, front doors, and windows.
6.    Be careful when disposing of packaging, hide this from view or place in bin bags out of sight.
