Knife Sweep conducted as part of Op Sceptre Week

Today, as part of the national Operation Sceptre week of intensification on knife crime, the Safer Neighbourhood Team have been out and about in Bakewell conducting a knife sweep on the Recreation Ground along with areas of the Agricultural Business Centre with Derbyshire Dales District Council.

The knife sweep didn’t turn up any knives but did locate a lot of rubbish which had been discharged in the hedge bottoms instead of the bins provided.

Whilst we know it is the minority of people who think it is acceptable to carry a knife, it can have devastating consequences when they do.

This work means that we can check for any discarded knives or weapons and safely dispose of them, keeping them from getting into the wrong hands.
