Community Collaboration for Safer School Zones

Kids are getting crafty at  Chapel primary school with their safety and the safety of others in mind!

We’re excited to share that our local PCSO Green has teamed up with the school mentors at Chapel Primary School to create a vibrant poster! With their art skills at the ready and the brief of encouraging safe parking they have taken on the mini mission to design and create their own personalised and unique poster to encourage drivers to park safely outside their school.

Parking safely outside primary schools is crucial for several reasons:

  • Child Safety: During pick-up and drop-off times, the area around schools can become very busy. Children are often less aware of traffic dangers, and unsafe parking can increase the risk of accidents

  • Traffic Flow: Proper parking helps maintain a smooth flow of traffic, reducing congestion and the likelihood of accidents. Double parking or parking in restricted areas can create bottlenecks and unsafe conditions

  • Legal Compliance: Many areas have specific parking regulations around schools to ensure safety. Ignoring these rules can result in fines and penalties

  • Visibility: Safe parking practices ensure that drivers have clear visibility of crossing children and other vehicles, which is essential for preventing accidents

  • Community Responsibility: By parking responsibly, you contribute to a safer environment for everyone, including other parents, teachers, and local residents

  • It's always best to follow parking signs and guidelines, even if it means walking a bit further to the school gate. This small effort can make a big difference in keeping children safe.

This poster will be added to a banner placed outside the school, reminding everyone of the importance of parking safely, especially around schools.

Let’s work together to ensure our children can travel to and from school safely. Remember, safe parking saves lives!
