Off the Streets Northampton

Good Morning,

Those of you who were able to attend the recent South Northants NHW AGM will recall we had a very informative presentation given by Scott Fitzsimmons from Off the Streets focusing on the importance of having bleed kits located in communities.  Whilst these kits and the charities main focus is on stabbing incidents, please do bear in mind these kits can also be used in the event of accidental injury which result in a bleed and can save lives.

Following the meeting Scott has sent me some more information on where community bleed kits are located and also how to obtain them which I have copied below

From Scott:

Below is the link to our live online map of all registered bleed kits in Northants.

Yellow are bags in pubs and clubs, purple are either our cabinets or inside a defib cabinet, green are owned by EMAS and orange are amnesty bins.

We now have over 250 kits across the county and 18 amnesty bins.

Bags are £106 and cabinets with bags are £530. If there's a defib cabinet which is square shaped we can fit a bag inside there so it reduces costs to the local community.

All kits are registered with both ambulance service and good sam. EMAS and West Mids Ambulance Services are the best two services to register kits as others dont allow them to be registered.

One of the kits was activated last week in Corby so 6 have been used since we started placing them.

We also offer educational talks in schools and youth settings and also once a month arrange bleed training across Northants.

For those of you with a facebook account, much more information about the charity and its work can be found here.  https://www.facebook.com/OTSNN/?locale=en_GB

Best wishes
