3 Things of note recently in our area

Good afternoon from the Coldhurst & Westwood Policing Team

Just a few things of note in the area recently, first of all a well-known Shoplifter was arrested and remanded yesterday; this male has been involved in thefts all over Oldham and well known for targeting stores in Westwood such as B & M and also B & Q with his last crime being at Oldham Sainsbury’s where he stole around £400 worth of stock. The male can’t be fully named on social media at this stage, but store security will know that the surname of “Stewart” who was a thorn in their side for several years is currently off the shoplifting scene.

We also had a Road Traffic Collision on Featherstall Road North near to Daisy Street which involved 3 vehicles. Luckily it was damage only and no one getting seriously hurt, however whilst this isn’t a common issue we do find an increase in collisions when the weather starts getting cold and ice appears on the roads; also around this time of year we start getting more traffic on the roads due to the build up to Christmas and all the extra shoppers on the roads. Please be mindful of this and give yourselves extra time and space when driving.

On the 15/11/24 our 2 area officers PC 18439 and PC 16546 saw a male driving a blue Volvo around the Hilda St injunction with Neath St. After conducting checks on our Police National Computer, the vehicle showed no valid insurance or registered keeper. The vehicle was then seen parked up on Neath St and the driver was detained for further checks to be conducted. It became apparent the driver was disqualified until 26/04/26 and was then subsequently arrested and the vehicle seized under 165 road traffic act.
