Are your vehicle lights positioned correctly?

In the UK, the police may issue a message about "dazzling vehicle lights" if a driver’s vehicle lights are incorrectly positioned or too bright, causing a hazard to other road users. This often refers to headlights or any external vehicle lights that cause glare or discomfort to other drivers, particularly at night.

To avoid this, it’s important to ensure that:

1. Headlights are correctly adjusted: Misaligned headlights can cause them to shine too high, blinding other drivers. Regular checks and adjustments are recommended.

2. Use of fog lights: Fog lights should only be used in foggy conditions. If used improperly, they can cause unnecessary glare to other drivers.

3. Aftermarket lights: If your vehicle has aftermarket lighting (e.g., LEDs, HID lights), make sure they're fitted and aligned correctly to prevent dazzling others.

If the police believe your lights are dazzling or incorrectly positioned, they might ask you to adjust them or, in more serious cases, issue a penalty. It’s always best to check your vehicle’s lights and make sure they comply with road safety regulations.
