Over the past eight weeks I have been assisting the Swansea Council Road safety officer with the Kerbcraft scheme at Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Gellionnen in Clydach.

The Year 2 pupils were taught simple but effective rhymes and rules to help them learn how to cross the road safely.  

They were also taught how to cross if there are parked cars, how to cross near to a junction and how to check if a vehicle is about to drive off ~ is there a driver in the car, are there lights on, is there engine noise, is there smoke coming from the exhaust and are the wheels moving?

They were fantastic listeners and were very responsive and interested. They were a credit to the school.

Road safety is an important life skill and they will be receiving certificates for their great work.

This is a lovely part of my role and helps break down barriers with the children.

Gwnaethom dysgu disgyblion blwyddyn 2 rheolau a rhigymau er mwyn croesu yr heol yn saff.

Gwnaethom hefyd dysgu nhw sut i croesu os mae ceir wedi'i parcio ac i croesu yn agos i cyffyrdd.  Dysgodd nhw sut i nodi os mae cerbyd ar fin symud ~ oes gyrrwr yn y car, oes goleuadau arno, oes swn injan, oes mwg yn dod o ty ol y car a ydy'r olwynion yn symud?

Roedd y plant yn gwrando yn astud ac yn ymatebol a yn dangos diddordeb.  Maw nhw wedi fod yn credid i'r ysgol.

Mae diogelwch y ffurf yn sgil bywyd bwysig.  Fydd y plant yn derbyn tystygrifau am ei gwaith galed.

Mae hwn yn rhan hyfryd o fy rol.  Mae yn helpu torri lawr barriau gyda'r plant.
