🚨  Wokingham North NHPT Update.

Our set of shifts this week has seen the end of Op Sceptre, and the beginning of ASB Week, in which your local Wokingham North NHPT have carried out a range of activities focusing on these two priorities, as well as our regular duties.  So, for this week, officers;

💂 PC Saunders and PCSO’s Elson and Leightley attended Windsor Guard for Changing of the Guard duties, with one young lady requesting a photo with her snazzy InstaPrint camera! (other camera brands are available).

🚶🏿 PCSOs Elson, Leightley and Emmett disrupted ASB during the morning school run.  This was as a result of residents feedback in which we were able to act on the very next morning after it being brought to our attention.

❗ PC D’Amaro, PCSO Elson and a member of Wokingham Borough Council ASB Team attended a meeting at a local school in Earley, to hear their concerns about ASB and drugs happening close to the school grounds.  After said meeting, officers took a stroll to the area in question and came across the likely subjects.  Having seen us peek around the corner one tried to make a dash on his bike but wasn’t quite quick enough for PC D’Amaro, whilst the others were detained and details taken.  Drugs were seized at the scene along with a large quantity of cash – investigations are ongoing.

🚶🏿 Various walk-arounds have been conducted by the NHPT alongside Wokingham Borough Council ASB Team, as part of our Partnership Day for ASB Week.  Concerns were shared and heard, with plans set in motion to make improvements where needed to better disrupt ASB in your areas.

🔪  PC Simpson-Holland and PCSO Emmett were called upon to collect a range of knives after being discovered by a member of public, now safely removed from the street and sent for destruction.

🗣️  PCSO’s Brown and Emmett with PC Saunders, hosted a Have Your Say in Twyford – meanwhile PCSO’s Leightley and Ispas held similar in Woodley.  These were arranged to hear from you directly about your ASB concerns and experiences.  We often hold these surgeries to tell us what worries you, and for those that cannot attend, we share our feedback forms on these posts – see below.

❗ PC’s Simpson-Holland and Scullin, with PCSO’s Elson and Emmett were called to a disturbance between tenants that required police intervention to calm tensions, having just come from a previous call for ASB in the Woodley Precinct area following reports of youths throwing stones at buildings and passers-by.

🎒 Sgt Botham, alongside PCSO’s Ispas and Leightley conducted an awareness operation for ‘Ask For Angela’ with a range of licensed premises in Wokingham Town Centre.  Its aim being to educate staff with what to do whenever asked.  If you would like to hear more about this scheme take a look here: Home - Ask For Angela.

🌈  PC D’Amaro and PCSO Elson were invited to the local Rainbows group in Earley.  We were more than happy to spend our time sharing stories about what we do and showing off the kit we use – with demonstrations of course!  Unfortunately for the Rainbow leader, she found herself being arrested (pretend of course) – well it was her first day!  The children also played with the fingerprint kit and made their own keyrings.

🏫  PCSO Hobart and PC Stone hosted a school talk around the roles of policing and career entry routes.  Feedback was that this was warmly received, with a number showing a keen interest for their own futures.  If you have a need for your own school talks, feel free to reach out to us.

The ASB Awareness Week continues until Sunday, so stay tuned for further updates over the coming days, but it doesn’t end there as we are already making plans for specific objectives during December ❄️ , through to the end of the year.
