KEEP BURGLARS OUT OF YOUR AREA

Burglars will use a variety of ways to avoid being noticed.

They don’t want to be seen or heard by a neighbour or passer-by because they will feel exposed and identifiable.

Distraction burglars will pretend to be someone they are not, so you must be aware of the common methods they will use to get you to let them into your property.

Here’s some useful advice, firstly on helping to keep burglars out by giving them no hiding place and, secondly, on how to prevent a distraction burglary.

 * Its EASY to lock your windows, doors and Vehicles

* Its EASY to put your valuables out of sight

* Its EASY to make your home look occupied by putting your interior lights on a timer and fitting external lights that work on a sensor

* Its EASY to set your ALARM

* Its EASY to upgrade your window and door locks. Visit www.locksmith.co.uk

* Its easy to look out for your neighbours . Set up or join an existing NEIGHBOURHOOD watch group. Contact your local    Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101 for more information.

* Its EASY to register your items for free on the National Property Register at www.immobilise.com

Can you please contact us if you know of any suspicious activities in your area?

Please contact us on 101 or report online on the GMP website.

If you aren’t comfortable contacting us directly, information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, they never ask your name and they cannot trace your call or I.P address. You can call 0800 555 111 or visit their website: www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
