As the national anti-social behaviour week draws to a close our hotspot patrols will continue, but what is Project Hotspot? ➡️Hotspot policing puts officers on the streets in the right place at the right time. ➡️Over the last six months we have carried out more than 2,000 hours of extra police patrols across North Yorkshire which have led to numerous arrests and intelligence submissions. In September alone, our dedicated hotspot patrols made eight arrests. ➡️We understand that an important part of policing anti-social behaviour is just being present in an area. When tasked with hotspot, our officers are conducting high visibility uniformed patrols on foot. ➡️We have dealt with issues which include groups of teenagers playing knock and run on elderly resident’s doors as well as off-road biking on pavements and in public spaces. The project which is funded by the Home Office aims to increase trust and confidence in policing and make people feel safer in the communities they live in. The good news is, it seems to be working, as you are telling us that you are happy to see more of us on the streets. If you haven’t spoken to us , and you do see us on patrol, then why not stop and have a chat. We will continue to take a record of officer numbers, times and the duration of our presence in specific areas so we can evaluate the tactic’s success in reducing anti-social behaviour in North Yorkshire over the course of this year.
