Dear Resident
A residential burglary has occurred on Kingsland Road on 23/11.24. The victim has reported a scam whereby a white van came to his property and knocked on his door, the victim has answered and 3 men stated they work for First call roofing & building. They told victim they are working in the local area and that he is In need of getting his roof fixed. The men were quite persistent with the victim which resulted in him letting them in the house. One of the males has then gone upstairs while the other two stayed down stairs. The victim has told the men he would take a quote but he is not looking to get any work done at this time the offenders then left. It was then noticed the roof tiles have been tampered with and the lining. This has resulted in the roof now leaking

Tips to prevent burglary:
Check downstairs windows and doors are securely locked before you leave or go to bed. Secure UPVC doors by lifting the handle and locking it to engage the security features. Don’t leave keys, phones or other valuables on windowsills or in any other visible place. Securely lock rear gates, sheds and garages. Keep tools and ladders locked away, as they could be used to break into your home. Use laminate glass where possible for any rear doors or windows. If this is not practicable, consider the use of security film over existing windows. Use a “Fake TV” or timer switches on lamps to give the impression someone is at home. Consider using a doorbell camera, interior camera, or a monitored burglar alarm. Consider adding trellis to any side or rear boundaries to add extra height up to a maximum of 2 metres.
