This month the beat team have been largely focusing on Antisocial Behaviour. Due to Halloween and Bonfire night, we expected an increase in calls about Antisocial Behaviour and we put steps in place to reduce these as much as possible. Shops on the beat were given posters to display. The posters explained that the shop would not sell eggs and flour to those under 16. We also had patrol plans in place across the whole neighbourhood area to deter incidents before they occurred. We did receive some calls regarding the antisocial use of fireworks and eggs being thrown at properties and we have been investigating these incidents and speaking to all those involved, taking action where relevant. We have been working together with the council to come up with ways to tackle these ongoing issues. Particular problem areas have come to our attention and we have increased patrols in these areas, particularly foot patrols. We have provided the victims with support, working with partner agencies on ways we can prevent any further incidents from occurring and ways we can support those at risk. After receiving multiple reports regarding a vehicle being driven in an antisocial manner, the beat team stepped up patrols in the areas the vehicle was known to be operating. It wasn't long before the vehicle was caught in the act and officers swiftly issued the driver with a section 59 warning. This means that if this person is caught driving antisocially again, or the vehicle is being driven by anyone else in an antisocial manner, it will be seized by us. This also applies if the driver is caught driving antisocially in another vehicle. Antisocial Behaviour Awareness Week As part of ASB Awareness week, the beat team have been conducting targeted patrols across the beat in localised hotspot areas. The team have also carried out visits to schools to speak about antisocial behaviour and the effects it can have on the community. We have also teamed up with the council and had meetings and carried out patch walks with the safer communities team to discuss ongoing problems on the beat. Issues are shared between the police and the council enabling us to discuss proactive plans going forward. |
