A residential burglary has occurred on Howe Bennetts End Close between  2000hrs and 2210hrs on23/11.24.

On the 23rd of NOVEMBER 2024 at 22:10HRS the victim has returned home. Once the victim has entered the property he has noticed a large mess in the hallway with his belongings being scattered across the floor. Once the victim has continued to walk through his property he noticed the living room window was damaged with a glass scattered across the sofa as well as the window being open which was left closed.

The victim to walk upstairs where they were faced with a large mess and disturbance where their belongings had been left scattered across the hallway and in each of the three bedrooms. The victim then walked into their bedroom where they had noticed that £12,000 cash and £10,000 worth of jewellery had gone missing which was kept wrapped under clothes in their shared wardrobe.

Please be vigilant and do report any suspicious activity or behaviour in the area.  

Tips to prevent burglary:  

Check downstairs windows and doors are securely locked before you leave or go to bed.   

Secure UPVC doors by lifting the handle and locking it to engage the security features.   

Don’t leave keys, phones or other valuables on windowsills or in any other visible place.  

Securely lock rear gates, sheds and garages.   

Keep tools and ladders locked away, as they could be used to break into your home.   

Use laminate glass where possible for any rear doors or windows. If this is not practicable, consider the use of security film over existing windows.   

Use a “Fake TV” or timer switches on lamps to give the impression someone is at home.  

Consider using a doorbell camera, interior camera, or a monitored burglar alarm.   

Consider adding trellis to any side or rear boundaries to add extra height up to a maximum of 2 metres.
