Lechlade vehicle crime arrest and charge

Kudos to our caller who alerted us to suspects breaking in to a Ford Transit that was parked and unattended in the vicinity of St Johns Priory in Lechlade last Thursday evening.

The first officers on scene were members of our Special Constabulary, Specials Inspector Rigglesford and Special Constable Picken, who managed to catch one suspect who they found had broken in to the cab of the Transit. That person, a 21 year old man from Oxfordshire, was taken to our custody block near Gloucester where he spent the night.

He was interviewed the following day by an officer from our Neighbourhood Policing Team and charged with attempting to steal the Transit van. He was released on bail to attend Cheltenham Magistrates Court on 10th December with a condition that he is not to enter Gloucestershire until that date.

Great work by members of our Special Constabulary. If you'd like to try to do the same then we are accepting expressions of interest for new Special Constables. You can read more here - https://orlo.uk/6WQKa

Thank you for your support.
