Dear Residents and Local Businesses, Here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, to let you know some of what we have been busy dealing with:
PATROLS Officers have completed several weapon sweeps in Barras Heath, and although a number of weapons were found over the last week, these are fortunately now off the streets.
Our team will actively be looking for potentially deadly weapons from our streets, removing them and dealing with those who carry or use them appropriately
We have also continued ASB patrols around Edwick Park, Hillmorton Road & Riley Square.
Please also refer to our x/twitter for updates on this Stoke & Wyken Police (@StokeWykenWMP) / X
Officers have conducted various arrest attempts in regards to OpAdvance, which is our policing operation that takes action against offenders and protects those most vulnerable in our community.
ARRESTS Our team have had three arrests this week, one for a public order offence, one for a theft of a bicycle, and one other offence.
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK We have been continuing our patrols in retail parks and general shopping areas, such as the Warwickshire Retail Park and the Ball Hill area on Walsgrave road.
Christmas is readily approaching, and shoplifters and general theft is on the rise and thus we have been paying particular attention to locations that have recently experienced an increase in anti-social behaviour and crime.
One Vehicle has been seized, the driver did not have a valid driving licence and was initially stopped due to driving dangerously as he had not defrosted his windscreen.
It is an offence to drive without defrosting your windscreen, failure to do so and continuing to drive may result in a fine and points on your licence.
CAN YOU HELP YOUR LOCAL NEIGHBOURHOOD TEAM? The information and intelligence we receive from the public is invaluable to us.
The most typical way in which such information is managed is that upon receipt of information from a member of the public - such as a smell of cannabis or strange comings and goings - is that officers from the local team will make their own enquiries and record their findings, and this will be the basis for a warrant application.
Intelligence is anonymous Intelligence is key. Intelligence helps protect and serve our communities
If you have information about people committing crime that you want to tell us about, you can contact us on the non-emergency telephone number 101 or by visiting us online at Home | West Midlands Police (west-midlands.police.uk) where you will find access to the LIVE CHAT facility. Alternatively you can contact the CRIMESTOPPERS charity anonymously by calling 0800 555 111. This is a free phone number. CRIMESTOPPERS can also be contacted online here: Independent UK charity taking crime information anonymously | Crimestoppers (crimestoppers-uk.org)
Please do not report crime via WMnow because it is not always monitored.
Kind Regards, The Stoke & Wyken Neighbourhood Policing Team
