My name is Mark Talbot, and I am your local Neighbourhood Police Sergeant.

 I’ve had the privilege of working in policing for over 20 years, beginning my career in Harworth in 2002.  I have also experienced working for Lincolnshire Police. During my career, I’ve worked in various roles, including response and neighbourhood policing, proactive teams, covert drugs operations, off-road motorcycle team, and road crime teams.  These experiences have deepened my understanding of the challenges our communities face and the importance of collaboration in addressing them.

I’m writing to introduce a new system we’re implementing to improve how we communicate with you, the public, and to better understand the issues that matter most to you. This system is designed to be a two-way street. Historically, policing has often involved us telling the community what we’re doing and where we’re focusing our efforts. While that’s still important, we want to change the conversation to ensure your voices are heard and acted upon.

We recognise that the Police are the public and the public are the Police. We rely on your input to understand the priorities within your neighbourhood. If we don’t know about an issue, we can’t address it. Too often, those who shout the loudest receive the most attention, but we are committed to giving everyone in the community a voice. This neighbourhood alert system will allow us to gather insights from across the area so we can target our patrols and resources where they are needed most.

In return, we will keep you informed with the latest news and updates specific to your area. This includes sharing the hard work our teams are doing and the positive outcomes we’re achieving for your community. By working together, we can ensure a safer, more harmonious environment for all.
