Good afternoon,
PC Prentice and PC Trowman have attended Elmley Castle C of E School School this afternoon at pick up time after noticing various vehicles parked on a bend and on the zig zags.
Advice was given to several parents regarding where best to park around the school as well as notices placed on the windshield.
The best advice is to either walk or allow time to find a parking space and be prepared to walk a short distance to the school.
⛔️Do not drop your children off on the yellow zigzag lines as they are there for safety reasons.
⛔️Do not block residents driveways. Try not to double park as that restricts the traffic flow and causes frustration and may impede emergency vehicles.
⛔️Do not park on or opposite junctions as this restricts visibility and is dangerous. This is a complaint we receive a lot! The Highway Code advises drivers not to stop or park opposite or within 10 metres of a junction. Residents will have seen that cones were placed on these junctions this morning to highlight where NOT to park
⛔️ Do not park on a bend, a dropped kerb or the brow of a hill.
⛔️Do not block pavements which would force pedestrians into the road.
✅ Always aim to let your children out by the door nearest the kerbside.
👀 Should anyone see any illegal or dangerous parking then you can send either video or photographic evidence to Op Snap. Op Snap enables members of the public to report and submit digital footage showing potential traffic offences via a secure online form. Please note general parking complaints are unable to be dealt with via Op Snap and should be directed to the relevant local authority, however any parking on Zig Zag lines or parking that is placing pedestrians at risk will be actioned. https://www.westmercia.police.uk//police-forces/west-mercia-police/areas/west-mercia/campaigns/campaigns/2019/operation-snap/
Kind regards Alex
