The family of a man who sadly died following a collision on the A50 have paid tribute to him. Balhar Singh Gill, 62, from Leicester, was stationary in a white Citroen Berlingo van on the eastbound carriageway, near to Blythe Bridge, just before the Creswell Road overbridge at 7.05pm on Tuesday (10 December), when a Mercedes lorry collided with him. He suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he sadly died in hospital on Thursday 12 December. In a tribute to him, Balhar’s family said: “We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of a father, husband, brother and uncle. “He was a steady presence in our lives, and while he left us too soon, his memory will remain with us. “He will be missed.” His family are continuing to be supported by specially-trained officers. The driver of the lorry was not injured and is continuing to help us with the investigation.
