Police: Priority Update - Road Safety

This entertainer on their way to a gig unfortunately had to cancel tonight after getting a puncture on the A1

We were there to help try and still get the festivities underway, albeit a little later than scheduled, by changing the tyre for them

The bolts on the flat were on very tightly and we nearly came unstuck by it using the standard tool in the boot, but PCSO Andy Wylie found this bit of debris at the side of the road and it turned out to be the perfect extension lever!

Flat off, spare wheel out the boot, it looked okay, bolted on, car lowered off the jack and….. it’s flat.

No ‘Driving Home for Christmas’ for this entertainer or the patrons tonight…

The recovery truck was out quickly and they got home safe and sound, which is the most important bit

It’s a good reminder to us all though – make sure your vehicle is winter breakdown ready!

If you’ve got a spare wheel, make sure it’s inflated, get yourself a winter breakdown kit in the boot things like – warm clothes, a blanket, sturdy footwear, a flask of hot drink, a high vis jacket, snacks, torch, in phone charger or power pack, first aid kit, an empty fuel can, a warning triangle, jump leads and a shovel are all good ideas and you never know when they may be useful!

(P.S. we disposed of our make shift extension lever afterward responsibly).
