Dont Drink and Drive!

Parties, work celebrations and drinks with family and friends means the party season is in full swing! We want everyone to enjoy the festive celebrations, and we want you to be safe whilst doing so.

Unfortunately, the risk of people driving under the influence of drink also rises at this time of year. To help keep Derbyshires roads safe there will be an increased number of patrols over the festive period to catch drink and drug drivers in the act. Drink/drug driving can cause serious injuries or in some cases it can be fatal.

So, if you're out celebrating and you're having a drink, find an alternative way home! Get a taxi, Train or Bus. Or get a lift with someone sober. Having a designated driver in the group is a great idea...and they will probably thank you the day after when they don't wake with a sore head!!

Any amount of alcohol can affect your ability to drive safely. So the best advice is to not drink at all if you're driving

There is no way to speed up the process of alcohol leaving your system…Eating, drinking water, or taking a cold shower WILL NOT make alcohol leave your system any faster. The only way to eliminate alcohol from your body is to let time pass, so be mindful of this if you are wanting to drive the following day.

Help us to keep your Derbyshire roads Safe…If you see a drink/drug driver in action please call 999.
