Op vulture - Shoplifting Update

Good morning Skelmersdale,

We have charged a man following thefts from multiple shops in West Lancashire.

This relates to incidents at two stores in Skelmersdale where a value of over £400 of various products have been stolen.

Following numerous enquiries, a 49-year-old man was arrested on Saturday (21nd December, 2024), and we can now tell you that Michael Corkhill, of 11 Caister Close, Skelmersdale has been charged with six counts of theft from a shop.

He is now on bail until he is to appear at Preston Magistrates Court, in January 2025.

Operation Vulture is Lancashire Constabulary’s response to shoplifting across the county, backed by Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.

The operation sees dedicated officers undertaking hotspot patrolling, increasing their visibility in targeted areas and creating strong partnerships with retailers across the county to better share intelligence, get a deeper understanding of retail crime and identify more offenders.

Remember, if you are caught shoplifting this Christmas, expect a knock at the door... And it won’t be everyone's favourite carol singers 🚔
