Rural Weekly Update

Hello again from your Rural neighbourhood team, and welcome to this week’s weekly update!

Christmas is right around the corner so, from the rural neighbourhood team to you, we hope you have a very happy and safe holiday! With the festivities we hope you remain vigilant as for us, our job doesn’t stop and crime continues to happen. The current issues in this area are back to being burglaries and vehicle crime.

Vehicle crime:

Over the past few weeks we have had:

  • Vehicle theft
  • Items stolen from vehicle
  • Vehicles have been stolen from driveways this week as well as the VRM plates and attempts at tool thefts from vans.

    What can you do?

  • Use a faraday bag/ box- This blocks the signal used by the Jammer / transponder.
  • Attach a steering wheel lock / Wheel lock - this is a great deterrent
  • Remove valuables left inside - including tools
  •

    Burglary:

Over the recent weeks, there is a pattern of burglaries being committed where the offenders smash a window at the rear of the house, search all rooms and steal jewellery. These burglaries are usually happening during the daytime where the occupants are out of the house.

    So, what is being done?

  • Regular patrols in the area are being carried out during the day
  • Investigations are continuing to identify the offenders
  • What can you do?

  • Invest in CCTV / doorbells to alert you if someone enters your driveway/garden
  • Alarms on the property to sound if entry is gained to alert passers-by.
  • Don’t advertise expensive possessions on social media
  •
