Parking issues - Byram

Good evening everyone,

Police have received numerous reports of inconsiderate parking in the area of Queen Margaret's Drive/ Bryam Park Road in Byram.

North Yorkshire Police would like to take this opportunity to remind residents of their responsibility when parking. The highway code recommends parking at least 10 meters away from a junction.

Officers have attended the location and witnessed a number of vehicles parking illegally and inconsiderately, one example being a large transit van parked on a junction between two roads.

It is also an offence to obstruct a public highway with your vehicle and this includes footpaths, these need to be accessible for members of public to use especially persons in wheelchairs or with pushchairs.

Police will be monitoring the location and will take positive action if required.

If you witness a vehicle causing an obstruction or hindering the safety of the public, you can report this on 101 at the time of you sighting the vehicle.
