Good Evening Resident

Please be aware I believe a prolific offender is back at his ‘work’. I have messaged before about this chap in 2016, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

This man cold calls door to door, offering services such as cleaning guttering and windows. I believe this man has once again been in West End.

Description - White male, tall, slim, blonde / brown hair, aged approx. late 30’s, early 40’s. Sometimes in a High Vis jacket / vest.

This man is local to Southampton and has been doing this for many years, usually charging around £20-£40 cash. A few residents say they are happy with his work, but MANY OTHERS say the work has not been done, or been done to a substandard level. And there have been previous complaints of criminal offences.

NEW MO – He has now potentially requested payment to be made to a bank account.

Please look out for your neighbours, are they having work done? If you feel comfortable, please go and ask your neighbours if they feel under pressure, or uneasy about having the work done - if necessary call 101, or 999 in an emergency.

PLEASE DO NOT EMPLOY ANY COLD CALLERS – I cannot stress this enough. 

Method/s –

· Cold Calls.

· Usually on foot and alone, with a bucket. However, has previously been with another male or female.

· This man sometimes ‘borrows’ a ladder to use at multiple jobs, however he often does not return the ladders and then leaves the ladder in other residents gardens. Some people never get their ladder back.

· Starts off offering to clean / clear the guttering or wash the windows, but often then offers to do other work, sometimes needing to go and get materials which he requires payment for upfront and then doesn’t return.

· Sometimes charges a very high and unreasonable price for work to be done.

· Hedge End, West End.

· Netley, Bursledon.

· Bitterne, Harefield.

· Sholing, Woolston.

· Redbridge, Millbrook.

· Portswood, Bassett.

· Shirley, Freemantle.
