Dear Members, Here is a quick round up from the Acocks Green Neighbourhood Team:
· Officers successfully conducted an arrest of a person on suspicion of possession a firearm. If you have any concerns regarding firearms in your area, please contact the Police on 999 in an emergency and 101 if not an emergency.
. Officers issued a number of tickets to people committing driving offences.
. Officers patrolled hot spot areas regularly, focusing on preventing further crimes.
. Officers are taking a more proactive approach with neighbourhood Policing, to identify offenders and keep the community safe.
Look out for
· There has also been a slight increase in burglaries in the area recently, which may also be attributed to longer nights. Protect your home against opportunist burglars by remembering to ‘lock up’ and check on your neighbours. Dark evenings can provide perfect cover for burglars who can easily spot an open window in an unoccupied room, see your valuables through open curtains or blinds, or try their luck with an unlocked door while you are distracted by fireworks. If you wish to learn more about protection against burglaries, West Midlands Police have launched an interactive programme set in the house ‘27 Station Road’, to help visualise how burglaries can be prevented. Please follow the link to 27 Station Road: https://www.westmidlands.police.uk/police-forces/west-midlands-police/areas/campaigns/campaigns/27-station-road/
· You can find advice and information regarding burglaries, and‘Darker Nights’ on our West Midlands Police website: https://www.westmidlands.police.uk/police-forces/west-midlands-police/areas/campaigns/campaigns/darker-nights/
· It is the end of term and school holidays may also include an increase in anti-social behaviour in the area. If you see any behaviour that you believe is anti-social or concerning, please let us know. There are a number of clubs for children and facilities in the area.
· We are aware of the ongoing parking issues in Acocks Green, and do challenge ignorant and illegally parked drivers when we can. If you have any issues that you wish to report in relation to parking/ driving offences, you can visit the website below and submit images and videos to be reviewed by a devoted team: https://www.westmidlands.police.uk/police-forces/west-midlands-police/areas/campaigns/campaigns/operation-snap/
Next week
· Officers will be completing patrols in the local area specifically aimed at targeting youth violence and anti-social behaviour, so that the streets are safer and more enjoyable for all to enjoy. We are friendly, so if you do see us in the area, please feel free to say hello. If you do have any concerns, we will listen to them and try to assist in whatever way we can.
· We will continue to keep you updated with what is happening at the end of every set of our shifts this is every 9 days. Should anything be urgent or of interest then we will be sending out further messages.
