The A659, Tadcaster bridge is closed to traffic due to high river levels in the area. Pedestrians can still use the bridge. 

The closure of the bridge is a minor inconvenience; however it is to ensure the safety of the vehicles that cross it on a daily basis. I must also add that the decision is not taken lightly as North Yorkshire Council are fully aware of the implications it has. 

Whilst the closure is in place, please ensure you follow the diversion signs and do not tamper with the barriers. Unfortunately, the Police has received several reports of persons moving the barriers to cross of which is a criminal offence.
