On 31/12/24 at around 12:10 we were called to a non-stop road traffic collision wherein a silver Ford Fiesta had collided with a parked car on Tamworth Road, Amington and fled the scene.

The Fiesta was located and stopped by officers later that day on Hockley Road, Wilnecote. A roadside drugs swipe was conducted on the driver who tested positive for cannabis. Upon being told they would be arrested the driver made attempts to run off but was swiftly detained by officers.

The 22 year old male, from Tamworth, was arrested for drug driving. 

At custody it transpired he had given false details and was not the registered keeper of the vehicle so was further arrested for theft of motor vehicle.

He was also dealt with for vehicle offences such as driving without a licence or insurance.

Enquiries are ongoing re the potential vehicle theft.

The male has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
