Join the StreetWatch Penn and Merry Hill initiative and help make our neighbourhood a safer, more welcoming place for everyone. What is StreetWatch? StreetWatch is a community-led initiative where local residents volunteer to patrol their streets, promote good citizenship, and support a safer neighbourhood. While StreetWatch members don't have police powers, they provide a reassuring presence and report any suspicious activity to the police, playing a vital role in community safety. Why Get Involved? Promote Safety: Help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour by providing a visible presence in your local area.Build Community: Meet your neighbours and encourage everyone to take an active role in keeping the area safe.Support the Police: Work alongside your local police team to enhance safety and well-being.Flexible Commitment: Patrol for just two hours per month, whenever it suits you.Training & Support: Receive full training, guidance, and ongoing support from your local coordinator and the police. What You'll Do as a StreetWatch Volunteer: Patrol the Streets: Walk your local area with at least one other volunteer and stay alert for any issues.Engage with the Community: Talk to people you meet and encourage them to stay engaged in community safety.Report Suspicious Activity: If you notice anything unusual, report it directly to the police. You do not have to intervene yourself.Wear Your StreetWatch Jacket: Show your commitment with a high-visibility jacket, so your neighbours know you’re there to help.Who Can Join? Anyone aged 18 and over living in or around the Penn and Merry Hill area is welcome! Whether you’re new to the area or have lived here for years, StreetWatch is open to everyone who wants to contribute to their community.
