Please Keep Your Property Secure

Dear Resident

We have received several reports over the last few weeks regarding persons (possibly teens) trying to open doors on vehicles and also on some occasions the front doors of residential properties have also been tried. Thankfully, most of the vehicles and properties have been secure although a couple of vehicles have been entered in the last few weeks. Items of value have then been stolen from the vehicle. The latest of the above incidents happened at 12:15am on 02/01/2025 whereby two teens with faces covered tried the front door of a property on Laceby Road, near to the Bradley Crossroads area. The door was locked and no entry was gained but they did cover the Ring doorbell with their hand before trying the door. If you have any information regarding this incident then please call 101 quoting crime occurrence number 25*65.

Those involved are clearly opportunists who are looking for insecure properties and vehicles to be able to steal items from within. These incidents are happening sporadically over several ward areas in North East Linc's with a number of reports also in the Laceby Acres area. Please ensure that you keep your house doors locked at all times and always best to double check before you go to bed. Also ensure your vehicle is locked before leaving it, whether it is on the roadside or your driveway. If you have a keyless vehicle or remote locking then also keep your car keys away from your front door, preferably in a Faraday pouch or Faraday box. Criminals sometimes use scanning devices which can be held up near to your property by the offender which can retrieve the radio signals from your car keys to allow access to the vehicle. Some of the reports we have received from victims are that they are adamant their vehicle was locked and secure yet entry has been gained with no signs of any damage whatsoever, which indicates that scanners could possibly have been used.

Please be vigilant and report any incidents via 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.

Regards
