A message to parents

Good evening all.

Please can I ask all parents that have children with push bikes to invest in some front and back lights. Every evening I am coming across more and more children riding bikes in the dark with no lights and I cannot tell you the amount of near misses we have had, even in a Police car.

Can I remind you that it is part of the highway code and also a legal requirement to have lights in the hours of darkness, that all push bikes should have front and rear lights. Anyone over the age of 16 could be issued with a fixed penalty notice of £30 for not having working lights on their bike.

Kind regards
