It has been a busy few evenings for South Wight Neighbourhoods Policing team. On Thursday evening (19/12) PC Carey, your Beat Bobby for Shanklin and Ventnor, arrested a 33yr old male from Ryde on Suspicion of a Burglary. The male has since been released on Police Bail and the investigation is ongoing. PC Trickey, your Beat Bobby for Sandown and Lake, spotted a Suspect for a Theft whilst on patrol in Sandown and then assisted District Patrol Team C with the arrest of that suspect – who has subsequently been charged with Theft.

On Friday PC Carey, PC Schomberg and PCSO Wheeler managed to track down a 36yr old female from Ventnor who had an outstanding Warrant in place – PC Carey found the female hiding in a kitchen cupboard … We do enjoy a game of hide and seek! The female remained in Police Custody and then went to court.

The team will be on duty across the festive period and patrolling on foot and cycle targeting the priorities you set –

- Reduce Anti-Social Behaviour

- Target Drug Use and Supply

- Make our Roads Safer

PC Trickey and PC Carey will be dropping into the Christmas Feast at Christ Church, The Broadway, Sandown  on Christmas Day to support this wonderful benevolent event.

In the next few days, if you see someone in a red coat, climbing down a chimney it’s probably nothing to worry about but if they’re wearing a black and white striped top and carrying a ‘Swag’ bag maybe give us a call 🎅🏻😉
